Learning a second language

Language is such a splendid thing! This communication tool of choice is often taken for granted. Its instinctive use eclipses the magnitude of its beauty! The opportunities it provides for everyone often goes unnoticed. Language is a chameleon in our lives; it takes the colours of our origins, our education, of who we are. It evolves over our accents, our intonations, our typical expressions, our own evolution, our relationships.

As the ultimate means of transmission, language echoes our emotions and feelings. It makes possible our sharing of sensations, impressions and ideas. Through it, links are woven, solidified and consolidated.
According to the nations, peoples and different communities that use it, the language becomes an essential conductor of cultural and social information, revealing its speakers’ lifestyles, where they come from, how they live.

Language makes sense in the light of all occasions: negotiating in matters of business, cuddling in matters of family, cherishing in matters of love! It shapes, adapts and shifts according to purposes, over the perceptions.

Language is such a splendid thing! … And imagine the perspectives and possibilities of knowing two … or three … or four!

Learning a second language is one of the services offered by your Military Family Resource Centre (CRFM), in accordance with the national policy for Military Family Services (MFS).

The objective of the program is to provide accessible training to members of CAF families, to give you the chance to increase your confidence and to feel more comfortable evolving in an environment where the language of the community is not your native language.
