Virtual Health & Physical Fitness Day 4 June, 2021

Health and Physical Fitness Day is going VIRTUAL (again)! This year’s event will provide participants an opportunity to participate in sessions and challenges that strive to improve or increase overall wellbeing, create social connections, and promote physical activity. The day’s various events will provide an opportunity to challenge individual physical and mental fitness as well as learn more about how to improve overall wellness.
Full session descriptions and registration links are outlined below. Be sure to register to receive event updates!

All sessions will be delivered via Zoom. Links to join each session are provided in the descriptions below. Please only join the Zoom session approximately 5 minutes prior to start time.

EVENTS

5 km/10 km Virtual Run: 
Walk, jog or run your 5 or 10 km throughout the day and share your performance time in the Virtual Run’s Facebook Group if you choose.

Borden’s Fittest Soldier:
Participate in a series of prescribed exercises, completing as much as you can within a 10- minute time cap. Each member will be evaluated at an assigned login time. Join our Facebook group at PSP Borden for more info.

Alright soldiers, Here are the details for the Fittest Soldier event:
When: June 4th, 2021 0830-1100
Where: Zoom (15 minute blocks)
 
Details
✧Solo effort
✧15 minute blocks (5 minutes for pre comp brief/ Q&A)
✧2 Evaluators per participant

You will receive follow up emails with specific details regarding your timings and more in depth information on the exercises being used in this year's event. Be sure to check your email regularly for updates.
 
Please ensure you are properly warmed up and ready 5 minutes prior to your timeslot. If you are late, you forfeit your spot and the next participant will continue as scheduled.
Each competitor will be given 2 minutes per exercise to complete the prerequisite 20 repetitions (reps) of the buy in exercise and score as many reps as possible (AMRAP) with a Burpee. 
  • Hand Release Push Up 20 reps, AMRAP Burpee
  • Body weight Squat 20 reps, AMRAP Burpee
  • Plank with Alternating Shoulder Tap 20 reps, AMRAP Burpee
  • Alternating Reverse Lunge 20 reps, AMRAP Burpees
  • Mountain Climbers 20 reps, AMRAP Burpees 
Male and Female with highest burpee total is the winner. Both will receive a Lebert Equalizer to add to their home to recognize their efforts!
Winners will be announced during closing ceremonies video (1400)

Borden’s Fittest Unit:
Register a team of 3 members and represent your unit. Your team will work together (virtually) to strategically B-2/1 complete a series of prescribed exercises. Teams will be evaluated at an assigned login time. Join our Facebook group at PSP Borden for more info.

✧15 minute scheduled blocks ( 5 minutes for Q&A)

Participant #1 has 60 seconds to complete 8 reps of an exercise from EACH category (UB, LB, COND), Selecting whatever level you will be able to complete. There are 3 categories to select from worth more or less points depending on the difficulty:

🔶Level 1: 8 reps = 1 point per category
✧Kneeling Push up - UPPER BODY
✧Squat - LOWER BODY
✧Sprawl - CONDITIONING
 
🔷Level 2: 8 reps = 2 point per category
✧Hand Release Push up - UPPER BODY
✧Alternating Reverse Lunge - LOWER BODY
✧Burpee with no jump - CONDITIONING
 
♦️Level 3: 8 reps = 3 point per category
✧Regular Push up - UPPER BODY
✧Alternating Plyometric Lunge - LOWER BODY
✧Full Burpee - CONDITIONING
 
Each successful exercise will be awarded a score based on the level of exercise (i.e 8 reps kneeling push up = 1 point, 8 reps Alt. Rev. Lunge= 2 points, 8 reps Burpee w jump = 3points)

Topics discussed include mental health and wellbeing, stress and tips to handle our new Covid- 19 normal. Make your mental health a priority for this year’s Health and Physical Fitness Day.  Prizes available for those who join.

 Health Promotion’s BINGO Bonanza:
Health Promotion’s BINGO Bonanza adds a little twist to traditional BINGO! The usual numbers on your BINGO card will be replaced by health and wellness activities that you can complete to help improve your overall well-being.  To participate, all you have to do is to perform these activities before and leading up to the event, print and fill out the bingo card and then join the virtual event and follow along.  It is that simple! 
Join us for this Bingo Bonanza, which will help you focus on your health and wellbeing as well as have some fun! Did we mention there are also great prizes available to be won?!
