Helping Hands - Anti-Bullying Leadership Workshop
October is Bullying Prevention Month. We will be doing a workshop to empower members of the Helping Hands group to be leaders in speaking up against bullying in their schools, community, and other organizations. Lunch will be provided.
This fall the Calgary MFRC is launching a new volunteering and service program for tween and teens (11-16) called “Helping Hands”. This new program will allow young people in our military community the chance to connect socially with their peers and to give back to their community. We realize that young people in our community lead busy lives, so we have designed a program that is both enjoyable and meaningful.
Our tweens and teens are asked to make the commitment to attend 9 volunteer events through the school year (September-May). In return, they will get special invites to some of our MFRC events, a special wrap up event in May, and will be considered first when we are selecting which young people to send to Camp Maple Leaf in the Summer of 2020. If your child’s school requires volunteer hours for credit, our Coordinator will be happy to sign off on any hours completed.
