Eligible residents of Alberta receive universal access to medically necessary hospital and health care services. Alberta Health provides additional health care benefits to the services required by the Canada Health Act. Military family members being posted to the province may use their health care insurance from the province in which they came for a maximum of three months. You must get Alberta Health Care no later than three months after your arrival to Alberta. When you apply for Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) coverage, you must provide supporting documents that prove: Alberta residency, Identity, and Legal entitlement to be in Canada. Health Link Alberta is a 24 hour, seven days a week telephone health advice service answered by registered nurses that anyone in Alberta Health Services can access can call toll free to discuss their health concerns.
