Addictions Awareness and Prevention is a core component of the Strengthening the Forces (STF) Health Promotion programming. Its mandate is to promote a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle within the CAF community by developing and delivering primary interventions such as:
Addictions Awareness & Prevention
Courses and Workshops
- Education and personal skill developing
- Developing an environment that is supportive of an addiction-free lifestyle
- Addressing organizational policies that support an addiction-free lifestyle
Briefings, presentations and workshops are available upon request.
- Alcohol, Other Drugs, Gambling & Gaming Awareness (AODGGA) General Workshop
- Alcohol, Other Drugs, Gambling & Gaming Awareness (AODGGA) Supervisor Training
- Quit It! Tobacco and Vaping Cessation
To support an addiction-free environment among the CAF community, the Health Promotion team is available to provide mocktail services at 4 Wing functions throughout the year. Let us know what your event theme is or the type of drink you're looking for and we'll find one that fits!
At this time, mocktail ingredients must be paid for by the requesting organizer/Unit. The Health Promotion team will provide the beverage dispensers and service during the event.
Fatal Vision Goggles
After consuming alcohol, many people have a difficult time determining their level of impairment, which can unfortunately lead to making regrettable decisions. Impairment can last for more than 24 hours after cannabis use, well after other effects may have faded. Drugs impair you by affecting balance and coordination, motor skills, attention, judgement, reaction time and decision-making skills.
Fatal Vision Goggles Kits (Alcohol & Cannabis) are available through the Health Promotion Department for Units to sign out. These are great activities for PD days and/or special events/functions. The Health Promotion team is also available to come to your location with the kit and activities and run them for you.
