Registration
Complete the online registration process below. Ensure that you have read and understood the waiver, and reviewed all other pertinent documents on here such as the bike safety document and videos. Once registered, head over to the Col J.J. Parr Sports Centre Front Kiosk to pick up your racing bib, which will be required if you want to increase your chances of winning a prize. There are only a limited supply of racing bibs so you don’t want to wait to get yours! (Since bibs are limited, familiy members can share the same bib) Refer to the “tracking” section for more information on how to use your bib. Front Kiosk hours of operation are currently Monday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm.

Timeline
The challenge is expected to start 6 JUL 2020 and end 30 AUG 2020.

Layout
Various routes ranging from 3km to 60km will be released every Saturday at 1400hrs on this site and on our three social media platforms: 4WINGCONNECTION on Facebook, 4winghealthpromotion & 4wingrecreation on Instagram. Use one of these four sites to see the routes. You will have from Monday at 0001hrs to Sunday 1159hrs inclusive to complete the route(s). If you choose to complete the competitive route for fun, we recommend that you still time yourself using your Strava account (refer to the Competitive Division Registration Document here) to increase your chances of winning a weekly prize! Remember, weekly prizes for the competitive division are random draw so you can go at a leisurely pace and still win a prize.

Tracking
We will be using the hashtag #4for4wing on Instagram posts/stories and Facebook posts to track participation. You will need to:
  1. Walk, Run or Bike any of the routes that are advertised for that week, including the competitive routes; AND
  2. Take a picture of yourself completing the route; AND
  3. Include your racing bib in the picture; AND
  4. Post the picture on social media using the hashtag #4for4wing;
  5. Add a caption saying that you participated in the 4 Wing Summer Active Challenge and challenge other friends to participate as well.; AND
  6. Tag our social media platforms:
    1. @4WINGCONNECTION if you are posting of Facebook
    2. @4winghealthpromotion and @4wingrecreation if you are posting on Instagram
Please note that we will only be able to track your submissions if:
  1. If you have a privacy setting on Facebook - ensure that your picture is being shared to "public" (see below)
  2. If you have a private instagram account - ensure that you follow 4winghealthpromotion and 4wingrecreation and accept their "follow back"
  3. If making a story - you must tag our accounts either on FB or Instagram. The picture will be removed in 24hrs and tagging our accounts will send us a notification. 



Injury Prevention

This division is meant to be fun and leisurely. If you choose to run or bike a route as fast as you can, ensure you do a proper warm up and cool down. Please follow the rules of the road at all times, refer to the bike safety document and videos for more information. For all activities, we recommend you bring water, snacks, a first aid kit, a bike repair kit (if biking - see bike safety document and videos for more information) and a fully charged cellphone. Dress for the weather and avoid going on any routes during inclement weather including but not limited to: hail, freezing rain, thunder/lightening, and heavy winds.

Prizes
Thanks to our sponsor BMO Financial, we are able to give out $4000 in total prizes. $1800 of prizes is reserved for the recreation division and any unclaimed prizes from the competitive division will be added to the recreational prize pool. Prizes for the recreation division will be awarded as follows:
  1. Two weekly $25 gift cards will be awarded via random draw to all participants. Participants may increase their chances of being selected via random draw by participating up to seven times per week. Simply post a new picture everyday that you complete a route. And yes, you can repeat the same route. 
  2. All remaining $100 gift cards will be awarded as grand prizes via random draw to participants who participated at least once per week, for six of the eight weeks.
Awarding Prizes
The online registration requires you to share your Instagram and/or Facebook handle. We will use this as our primary means of communication so it is extremely important that you share one, or both of these accounts with us. If you are randomly selected as one of two winners of the weekly draw, we will reach out to you on social media. We will use your picture to announce you as the weekly prize winner. You will be able to pick up your prize at the Col J.J. Parr Sports Centre front kiosk. We have limited gift cards from various vendors which will be given out as a first come first served basis. Therefore, you will want to head over to the Col J.J. Parr Sports Centre as soon as you are announced as the weekly winner. We will require appropriate ID as proof that you are a Defence Team member. If you cannot provide ID, you will be disqualified from the prize and we will re-draw for that week. Grand prizes will be announced in September in the same way, or in a ceremony if we are allowed to host large gatherings.
