MS Roxanne Wood, 19 Wing Imaging

Good day 19WCYC members!

I would like to begin by thanking everyone for their cooperation and patience during the last couple months. It has certainly been a strange time for all. As you are well aware the Club has been completely closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I have good news! In line with 19 Wing, BC Provincial Health Authority and PSP National Guidelines we will be reopening the club very soon.

In order to maintain the health and safety of all members we will be approaching the reopening in a deliberately phased manner and with a number of new preventative health measures in effect. The first phase is to allow the use of the Kayak, SUPs and Dinghys starting on Friday the 19th of June!

Prior to rushing down to the club to get out on the water there are a few steps you each must take:

1)      Please take the time to read the Safety Plan posted on the club website. HERE

2)      You MUST watch a specially produced safety video! The video is available on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR6aDvrQSbk

3)      After watching the video send an email to our Membership Officer (Scott Matheson) at membership@19wcyc.com Scott, will confirm your membership is in good standing and then have you added to the Access List for Quadra.

4)      In order to keep this manageable we will have three windows to be added to the access list:

a.       If you send Scott an email by 1500 on Wednesday the 17th of June, you will be able to access the Club starting at noon on the 19th of June.

b.      If you miss that, but send an email by 1500 on Wednesday the 24th of June, you will be able to access the Club starting at noon on the 26th of June.

c.       Third chance will be at 1500 on Wednesday the 8th of July, for access the Club starting at noon on the 10th of July.

d.      Anyone who can’t watch the video by the 8th of July will be managed on a case by case basis.

5)      Members will need to self-screen prior to using Club facilities. If you are unwell, or have any COVID-19 symptoms, stay home!

At this time access is only being granted to the shed and not to the Clubhouse itself. Nor are we quite ready to allow keelboat rentals, but rest assured your Club Executive is working hard on getting everything in place to start the rental season soon! I know I am personally really looking forward to being able to sail again and I am sure I am not the only one.

As we reach the next phase in our reopening plan and have more information for you all we will send it out. If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask any of the Exec Committee.

Thank you all again for your understanding as we navigate this new reality and for your patience as we develop ways to open more activities in a safe and responsible manner.
