Thriving or Surviving Workshop

HAPPINESS STARTS WITH YOU – NOT WITH YOUR RELATIONSHIPS, NOT WITH YOUR JOB, NOT WITH YOUR MONEY, BUT WITH YOU.

The MFRC Mental Health and Wellness facilitators will use their expertise and best practices from supporting mental health with the Canadian Armed Forces members and their families. They will address how to establish new strategies for building stronger relationships and more fulfilling lives during times of change and stress.

In this interactive session, facilitators will guide discussion on the importance of building resilience both individually and as a family; and, develop healthy communication to maintaining healthy personal relationships and family functioning. How we manage stress is also a factor in maintaining a healthy family life and thriving career. Making note of what stress management techniques work for us and utilizing them regularly is an ideal way of guarding against future challenges. Building resilience against crisis and stress strengthens our ability to serve the communities we work for, and better yet, our own families.

After attending this workshop you will be able to:
  • Understand the importance of Social Connection.
  • Understand three aspects of thriving in the face of stress (resilience, hardiness, and vitality).
  • Be able to describe self-care strategies and skills that promote thriving as an individual, couple, and family with children.
