Families in Transition Information Session

Are you connected to someone who is medically releasing from the CAF? Get assistance with the transition process in a supportive, positive environment. During this session, you will learn about the 3B Second Career Assistance Network (SCAN) process and timeline and the organizations and support programs available to members and families. Meet the service providers and other families going through the experience. We encourage members and families to attend together. Call the MFRC at 250-363-2640 to register.

Group Teen Triple P – Positive Parenting Program 

It is up to you as a parent to decide which values, skills and behaviours you want to encourage in your child and to develop your own approach to dealing with your child’s behaviour. The Positive Parenting Program provides simple solutions to make parenting easier. Triple P Teen is a six-week course for parents dealing with the ups and downs of raising children ages 10 to 15. Important Financial Decisions Upon Medical Release 

Are you connected to someone who is medically releasing from the CAF? Do you have a financial plan for transition? In this workshop, a SISIP financial advisor will shed light on the release process and address your concerns regarding tax planning, CAF pension options, investments, insurance coverage, RDSP and VAC disability awards. Kids Have Stress Too!

This interactive workshop focuses on the important role of parents and caregivers in helping young children learn to manage stress. The child’s ability to cope with stress in the early years has consequences for physical and emotional health throughout life.  This workshop offers practical tools for recognizing stress and supporting children to build resilience.  Please register by October 13 by calling the MFRC at 250-363-2640.

Mental Health First Aid

The Veteran Family Program is offering a Mental Health First Aid certification for the Veteran community including Veterans, military members in transition, family members and service providers. Mental health first aid is the assistance provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, or who is in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or until a crisis has been resolved. Shifting Gears – Military Families in Transition
