About The Arena:
Just a few steps from the the Naden Athletic Centre, the Wurtele Arena is a full-service ice complex popular with military and civilian members for skating, hockey and other chilly activities.
At Wurtele Arena, our standard-sized ice surface is 85 ft x 200 ft.
With our extremely accessible hours, Wurtele is the place to play in Victoria!
PLEASE NOTE: Ice is removed May through August.
Storage Lockers for personal hockey gear will be available at the arena on a first come first serve basis starting at 0800hrs on Aug 30th 2021. You must come in person to recieve a locker space.

Casual Skate is open to military members, DND employees and Staff of Non Public Funds and military families, and members with a valid gym membership (free with MFRC ID card). All Skaters are advised to wear CSA helmets however, children, 5 and under are required to wear CSA approved helmets. Please be advised that bike helmets are not permitted. There are no pucks allowed at any time, sticks are optional for those who feel comfortable skating with one.

Parents & Kids Sticks & Pucks
Saturday : 2:30pm - 3:45pm
Who: Military Members and their children 12 and under (Maximum of 3 children must be accompanied by an active Canadian Armed Force member and possess a Naden Athletic Centre membership, free with your Military Family Identification Card from the MFRC)
What: This Family oriented program is for parents/guardians and children to put on their skates and to work on their skating and stick handling skills. No shooting is permitted during this program.
- CSA approved Helmet with face shield (Bike helmets not permitted)
- Neck guard
- Helmet strongly recommended
Physical Distancing is required during this program (groups from the same house hold may be within 2 m of each other). All Arena Covid-19 Safety protocols will be observed.
Adult Development: SUSPENDED (effective 3 Dec)
Wednesday's : 11:00am - 12:00pm
Who: 18+ Years - CAF members, DND Employees, NPF Staff, Military Family (with Naden Athletic Centre membership, Free with Military Family Identification Card from MFRC)
What: This Adult Development Hockey session is your chance to get out on the ice and work on your skating and stick handling skills. No shooting permitted during this program.

Physical Distancing is required during this program. No contact is permitted. All Arena Covid-19 Safety protocols will be observed
Monday, Wednesday: 1130-1250 and Friday: 1:00 - 2:20pm
Shinny hockey is open to Military Members and DND employees at CFB Esquimalt to come practice skills and/or engage in scrimmage sessions with other users if desired. All users must wear appropriate protective equipment which includes full gear, CSA approved full face protection and a CSA approved neck guard please note, half visors are not permitted. There are no restrictions on your ability, which makes it an ideal time to hone your hockey skills. Goalies are encouraged to wear neck shields when participating in these sessions. This program is available to Adults over the age of 18. See arena staff if any more information is required.
To make a booking for any Base Facility (i.e. sports fields, pool, gym) a written request is required. Please contact the Facilities Coordinator by e-mail (Minako.Gardner@forces.gc.ca) or fax 250-363-4315 a minimum of 12 weeks prior to the event. Note: military training takes priority on all bookings.
No skate rentals. No skate sharpening available.
