Online Home Alone Program

Online Home Alone Program

The Home Alone Program is designed to provide children 10 years of age and older with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied. The program focuses on small group discussions, problem solving, role-playing, and instructor-led demonstrations.

The course material covers such topics as:
  • Establishing a routine
  • House Key is your responsibility
  • Strangers
  • Telephone
  • Emergencies
  • Basic First Aid
  • Internet Safety
There is a Student Reference Book, which is designed to allow the program participants to actively participate in class assignments. It provides a review of the program material, as well as additional information that will be of value to the students. The course is ideally given in groups of 8 to 10. When interest is sufficient the course will be given at your local centre. The program can also be delivered virtually. Interested participants should contact their local MFS(E) centre for more information.
