The Gagetown MFRC is a registered not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of 51% military family members with the remaining positions available for CF members, Ex-Officio members and other community members.
Our Board of Directors are all dedicated volunteers that use their skills and knowledge to guide the Gagetown MFRC through informed decision making and planning.

Roles and Responsibilities for the Gagetown MFRC Board of Directors
The Board of Directors works in partnership with Base Gagetown and Military Family Services (MFS). The Board has one staff member, the Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for all remaining staff who are hired to meet the organizations mission and goals.
Volunteers interested in becoming a board member will meet with the Board Development Committee, and will be asked to attend an observation meeting before being invited to be a member of the Board of Directors. All Board Members will need to be ratified at the Annual General Meeting by the military community.
The key responsibilities for all board members include:
- Ambassador of the Gagetown MFRC
- Available for monthly meetings and committee work
- Financial Oversight - budget approval
- Legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Strategic Planning - establishing the overall strategic goals of the organization
- Representing Our Community
We are all representatives of our community who are dedicated to governing the Gagetown MFRC and ensuring that it is the best it can be!
How Do I Become a Board Member?
Community Members interested in becoming a member of the Board of Directors must complete the same requirements as all other volunteers of the Gagetown MFRC.
In addition to meeting these requirements, potential board members must complete the following:
It is important to note, that at this time, it may take 2 to 3 months to complete this process.
- Email the Board of Directors at firstname.lastname@example.org
- Provide a current resume
- Participate in an interview with the Board Development Committee;
- Attend Board orientation training sessions; and
- Attend a regular monthly board meeting as an observer.
Annual General Meeting
The Gagetown MFRC holds an Annual General Meeting in which all community members are encouraged to attend. At this meeting, community members will vote on board membership, hear the previous fiscal year’s financial report and be given an update on the Gagetown MFRC’s Strategic Plan.
The Annual General Meeting is held within 90 days of the end of the fiscal year, March 31st.
