Share: Stepping Up Stepping Up: Men's Leadership in the Prevention of Family Violence When a friend, co-worker, or loved one is being abused by someone, we often feel powerless. What can we do to help? Learn how to speak out in the face of abusive behaviour before, during, or after it happens. Jackson Katz is one of the original architects of the Bystander Approach to sexual assault and relationship abuse prevention. His work in that area was explored in the 2018 film, The Bystander Moment: Transforming Rape Culture at its Roots. In 1997 he created and directed the first system-wide gender violence prevention program in the U.S. military, and his programs have been implemented in various forms in all of the United States Armed Forces. From 2000-2003 Katz was a member of the groundbreaking U.S. Secretary of Defense’s Task Force on Domestic Violence in the Military. On February 18, The Family Violence Advisory Team & the KMFRC hosted Jackson Katz via MS Team Meeting to talk to you and your family about what we all can do to prevent and stop family violence. Jackson Katz, Ph.D. Jackson Katz is internationally renowned for his pioneering, scholarship and activism on issues of gender, race, and violence.
