Prevention, Support and Intervention

How can the Family Liaison Prevention Support and Intervention (FLO-PSI) Program help you?

We understand it is not easy to seek help from a mental health professional – it takes strength and courage to reach out for assistance. As a partner in your emotional well-being and mental health, we are committed to working with you and your loved ones to build a community of resilient families.

  • Do you need assistance coping with the impact of the injury or illness?
  • Do you have challenges accessing childcare during recuperation or to prevent and alleviate stress?
  • Do you require assistance navigating through relevant programs and services?
  • Need more support in development of positive coping strategies?
  • Would you like the opportunity to foster family peer support groups/networks?

The Family Liaison Prevention Support and Intervention Programs and Services are accessible to all Canadian Forces Families. Free and confidential support is available for any topic you need to discuss.

Family Liaison Prevention Support and Intervention staff can help support your resiliency in the following ways:
  • Education and Prevention: CAF Families have and use strategies to manage general health and lifestyle stressors through workshops and programming.
  • Assessment and Referral:  Families are referred to appropriate and accessible community services and resources.
  • Self Help Groups: Families have opportunities to share common experiences and to develop peer supports through connecting on shared experiences (Family Relationships, Special Needs, Occupational Stress Injuries, Relocation and Transitions and more).
  • Crisis Intervention and Short Term Intervention: Family members have access to immediate and appropriate support and intervention in times of crisis.
