The Heroes Camp Project

Dear Military Families,

I am VERY excited to share with you a sponsored camp initiative that has been implemented to support our military families in the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent area!

I’d like to introduce: “The Heroes Camp Project”. This initiative came about from officers and colleagues of The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment who were invited to participate in a memorial project at Muskoka Woods Camp last year and learned about The Canadian Heroes Project developed to serve the children of our military families who might not otherwise have the financial resources to attend a summer camp. Through subsequent visits they have witnessed, firsthand, the benefits the camp offers to families of military personnel serving us.

We are very pleased to announce that this is now an innovative regional project that is available to our families for 2019 due to a very generous donation by Veterans Voices of Canada (VVOC) - Flags of Remembrance. The funds received this year will allow us the initial opportunity to send 6 children from the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent areas to attend Muskoka Woods Camp for the *Summer of 2019!

Muskoka Woods Camp is an outstanding facility which has historically made a significant impact on several children and youth, while creating memories to last a lifetime! Muskoka Woods Camp also provides support to children/youth with special needs. Some support/activities include a Snoezelen multi-sensory room, to one-on-one supports and more! A fully wheelchair accessible camp will also be available soon.

We encourage parents to visit the Muskoka Woods website, to see all the amazing sports, activities, programs and services the camp has to offer at
If your child, or a child from another military family would benefit from this opportunity to attend Muskoka Woods camp, please keep them in mind. *Details about eligibility criteria, applications and process to follow!
