As a governance board, the Mainland BC Military Family Resource Centre board of directors is responsible for providing leadership and oversight, and for guiding the strategic direction of the organization. The board also provides guidance and support to the executive director, who is responsible for day-to-day management of the activities of the MFRC.
Other Board Member duties include:
- Fiscal oversight
- Risk management, including legal/regulatory compliance
- Fund development support
- Promotion of the organization to increase the profile of the Military Family Resource Centre in both the military and civilian communities.
The board typically meets 9 times per year (no meetings in December, July, August). Meetings last approximately 90 minutes, and board members living outside of Metro Vancouver may participate via phone. The board consists of a chair, vice-chair, secretary, treasurer (the executive committee), plus up to 5 more directors for maximum of 9 board members.
Membership Aplication Form may be submitted online, or printed and returned by mail to: Memberships, 1755 W 1st Ave, Vancouver BC V6J 0G7.
In addition to the executive committee, board members also have the opportunity for to serve on other committees: finance, human resources, fund-development, scholarship and strategic planning. The executive committee and the finance committee are standing committees, while the others are struck at particular times of year or when needed.
If you would like to support confident, capable, and resilient Canadian Armed Forces families while at the same time, cultivate new personal and professional networks, we look forward to your application.
