The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) recognizes that good health is essential to the well-being of the personnel and to operational effectiveness. The Strengthening the Forces program was launched in 2002. It is a joint ini-tiative between Force Health Protection and the Director General Personel and Family Support Services.

The mission of the program is to give CAF members and the National Defence team the opportunity to take charge of their health and well-being. The ultimate goal is to encourage positive changes in lifestyle, attitude and behavior. This program is evidence-based and consistent with best practices in health promotion.

The Health Promotion team offers training programs, or-ganizes campaigns to encourage healthy choices, and supports the units in their initiatives to build healthy work environments.

These services are free and available to all members of the Regular Force and the Reserve, to the member’s immediate family, the employees of the Department of National De-fence and Non-Public Funds, the Cadets and the Rangers. Our programs
