Your resume is about you and your experience. There is no one way to write a resume, but there are some guidelines to help you build a strong base.
Important Items to Remember
Format:
- Clean & Professional
- Plain language
- 1-2 pages
- Simple font & readable size (eg. Arial or Times New Roman 10-12)
Sample of relevant information to include:
- Your name and contact information
- Your education and training
- Languages spoken
Your relevant experience including:
- Professional profile/ overview “about me”
- 1-2 lines about where you’ve been and where you want to go (enough that people keep reading!)
- Where you worked
- When you worked there
- Your title
- What you actually did / accomplishments
Content:
- Be specific, and be detailed
- Talk about what you did and what you accomplished
- Read and review job postings
- Echo the wording of the posting in your resume
- Save multiple resume versions
- Try adding tags or comments for your own understanding
