Operation Family Doc is a program offered by the Military Family Resource Centre of the National Capital Region (MFRC NCR) that connects Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families with a family doctor.
All serving CAF members’ dependants and CAF members undergoing release or retirement (and their dependants) in the NCR (including the Outaouais Region) are welcome to access this program. Medical services will be provided by family physicians in the NCR. A referral will be sent to a family doctor on behalf of the family based on the information provided on their Family Referral Form. Next, the family will be given the contact information for their new family doctor, whom they will then contact to arrange their initial appointment.
Need a family doctor? apply by completing our Client Referral Form (PDF).
Canadian Medical Association
After launching Operation Family Doc in partnership with MFRC-NCR, the Academy of Medicine Ottawa (AMO) put forth a motion at the 146th Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA). This resulted in the passage of a resolution by the membership to work with provincial and territorial medical associations to ensure that members of military families and retiring/releasing personnel “have continuous access to a local family physician” when they relocate.
Resolution DM 5-35: The Canadian Medical Association supports the right of family members of Canadian military personnel and retiring/releasing military members and their families to have continuous access to local physicians as they relocate to new military bases and communities across Canada.
