CANEX Volunteer Recognition Program
Recognising Volunteers in a Changing Social Landscape
The year where collective action prompted altruism to shine
OTTAWA, ON, December 8, 2020 - Much is said about recognising volunteers; even more so, recognising volunteers during a global pandemic! However, what happens when a public health crisis forces everyone to stay at home? The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically altered the landscape of volunteering, in terms of both volunteer opportunities and volunteer availability, and the disruption is likely to continue for months to come. Despite this impediment however, volunteers have demonstrated altruism and dedication to many incredibly diverse community and organisational endeavours that may have otherwise been halted.
Annual Holiday Dinner Celebrates Volunteers’ Contribution

This dinner aimed to honour the volunteers and members who were generous with their time and capacity in supporting the Personnel Support Program (PSP) and the Military Family Resource Centre – National Capital Region (MFRC-NCR) teams with a variety of skills-based volunteering (SBV) and activities aimed at engaging the larger Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) community members.
