Volunteer Services

Military Family Resource Centres give families the opportunity to participate in the planning, designing, delivering, and evaluating of MFRC programs and services through volunteer experiences. The MFRC-NCR provides an environment for volunteers to bring their friends, meet other military family members who share their interests, and learn new skills.

Volunteering is an excellent way to discover new areas of interest, build self-confidence, develop, and improve your marketable skills, and add on-the-job experience to your resume.

How to become a volunteer with the MFRC-NCR:

Connect with us at info@mfrc-ncr.ca or 613-998-4888 to inquire about volunteer opportunities.

When you volunteer at your MFRC you can:

  • Help your community and others: Helping others usually comes to mind when people think of volunteering, but you’ll see when you read further down the list, there is much more to volunteering than that.
  • Increase your self-esteem: Giving a few hours a week, or even a month, to your MFRC creates good feelings. Volunteering can make you feel better about yourself.
  • Help friends out: Friends are often the first people we turn to when we need help. Volunteering can create a great way to get together with friends on a regular basis.
  • Make some new friends: Volunteering can be a social activity. Use the opportunity to meet other interesting military family members who share your interests and values.
  • Try a different job: People considering a job in the nonprofit sector often discover that volunteering is a good way to get a peek at what happens on the inside.
  • Polish your resume: Adding volunteer experience to a resume shows a commitment to helping others or to working in a particular field.
  • Develop a new skill: A volunteer job often gives people an opportunity to learn how to do something they didn’t know how to do.
  • Be part of something you love: Volunteer jobs come with great benefits.
