Social Wellness Monahan / HPAA / CFB North Bay / 2017 Social Wellness Social Wellness is one component of Strengthening the Forces health promotion programming. Social Wellness is integral to overall physical and mental well-being. If you want to learn how to manage stress effectively, the stressors we can and cannot control, and stress management techniques, you can enroll in a course called Stress: Take Charge. Our Managing Angry Moments course teaches the basics of effective communication and how to manage situations that may have caused you to respond in anger in the past. The new Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness course provides an easy-to-use ACE model (Ask, Care, and Escort) that anyone can use to help someone who is experiencing distress, be it a colleague, friend, or family member. A recent addition to the social wellness suite of courses is Inter-Comm, designed for CAF personnel as well as adult family members who wish to improve their ability to deal with conflict and to communicate in the context of personal or workplace relationships. In order to promote awareness of the negative consequences of family violence, we participate in the annual Family Violence Awareness and Prevention Campaign organized by the Directorate of Military Family Services. All social wellness courses are geared to adults, are interactive, and facilitated by specially trained health promotion delivery personnel.
