On November 4 at 7:30 pm at Florence Simmons Performance Hall, Charlottetown, the Military Family Resource Centre will gather PEI entertainers for an evening of music, dance, comedy and stories.
The second annual Salute! will feature the PEI Regimental Band, The School of Performing Arts, Ava and Lily Rashed, Aaron Crane, Julain Molnar, Catherine O’Brien, Josee Boudreau, and more.
The PEI Military Family Resource Centre is committed to promoting and facilitating community based military family services that strengthen Canadian Armed Forces families and communities. In 2014, the PEI MFRC opened as a newly incorporated not-for-profit, charitable organization. They include RCMP, veterans, and their families as part of their clientele.
This show is a celebration of the many people in service and the families and friends who support them. It is also a way to promote services the MFRC provides.
“This year we decided to focus a little more on the women in service and in support over the years.” Says Bernie Mullin-Splude, Program Co-Ordinator at the PEI MFRC and organizer of the event. “So it will be a special Salute to Women!”
Catherine O’Brien is Artistic Director of Salute, and she says that she is delighted with the feedback from last years’ show and looks forward to presenting a new show for 2017.
Highlights will include a story about the “real” Klondike Kate and a Vera Lynne medley arranged by Howard Cable and performed by Julain Molnar, Catherine O’Brien, and Josee Boudreau with the PEI Regimental Band.
