Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness
What is Mental Fitness?
Mental fitness goes by many names such as, ‘mental toughness’ psychological readiness, military resilience, mental health, and psychological resiliency. Mental fitness is a state of well-being in which a person is psychologically and emotionally resilient. Being mentally fit means a person is able to cope effectively with the demands of the various military environments and lifestyle.
Why Suicide Awareness?
As a health promotion program and educational tool, the MFSA course prepares personnel in leadership positions to be aware of suicide, to use the ACE (Ask, Care, Escort) Intervention Model to practice suicide intervention, to improve their knowledge about mental fitness and suicide and to develop valuable life/leadership skills.
MFSA: Aim and Objective
Designed specifically for the Canadian Armed Forces and for CAF personnel, MFSA’s course material promotes awareness and skill building to maximize mental fitness both individually, and in team settings for both individual and operational effectiveness.
