Pre-Registered Specialty Fitness Classes

These classes require pre-registration ONLINE, at the Rec Plex or at the South Side Community Centre.  “Fees apply” will be in the class description if they are not free with your CAC.  Your CAC gives discounted rates for those with fees.

AQUAFIT - PARENT & TOT (6 months - 3 years)
This is an aqua fitness class designed for parents and splash time for kids!  Have fun with your child and stay in shape!  Whether you're a mom and want to get your pre-pregnancy body back or a parent simply looking for fun and active things to do with your toddler, this program has you covered.  This is also a great and safe way to introduce your child to the water.  Toddlers will be seated in a floatation device that remains in direct contact with the parent. This is structured as an 8 week program that must be registered for in advance (fees apply).

INTRO TO FITNESS
Never been to a group fitness class?  Coming back to the gym after a long break?  This 4 week progressive workshop is for you.   Instructors will give longer warm-ups and cool downs as well as more detailed instruction of every move.  The workout component will combine cardio and strength and be limited to 20 minutes for a total class time of only 45 minutes.  Free with your Community Access Card (CAC).   Check ONLINE for days and times.
 
LEARN THE LIFTS
Take this 4 week workshop as a beginner’s introduction or a seasoned participants’ refresher to barbell and dumbbell lifts. Exercises may include deadlifts, overhead press, squats, kettlebell swings, bench press, hang cleans, snatch, overhead squats, clean and jerk and a few other exercises that may be found in our AFC Boot Camp classes. The ability of the participants will set the pace for the course and determine how many lifts are taught and learned. A background in athletics is helpful. Classes run approx 1.5 hrs. Fees apply.     
 
ROWFIT
Rowing offers a mix of strength and lots of cardio to bring your training and conditioning to the next level! Give this a try and you won’t regret it, with no hard impact on your joints you can bring that heart rate up again! Classes will also provide you with training ideas and formats to allow you to continue to train effectively on your own. This is structured as a 4 week program that must be registered for in advance. Free with your Community Access Card (CAC)!
