PMFRC Programs and Services

The PMFRC offers a wide range of programming to serve families with children with special needs.

Exceptional Families Network
Do you have tips or tricks that have worked over the years for your special needs family? Come to our monthly Exceptional Families Network and share your experiences with other parents. This is your opportunity to connect, share information and bounce ideas off each other.  The group meets the first Thursday of each month; check our calendar to find out more about the next session.

Special Needs Family Forum
This annual panel discussion brings together partners from across the County.  Find out about what is available, discuss the issues that matter to your family, and tell us about the services that you want to see.

Exceptional Children Awareness Week
Join us for a week of workshops and activities, presented in cooperation with local community  partners.  Each year, we visit facilities around town and find out more information about the programs and services that are available to meet your family's unique needs.

Social Skills for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
This program offers a safe and structured environment for your child to form friendships and practice various social skills such as:
  - non-verbal behaviour cues and emotion recognition,
  - conversation rules,
  - social problem recognition and problem solving,
  - making good choices, and
  - friendship and leadership skills.

Brain Gym ®
Brain Gym will help to coordinate eyes, ears, hands and the entire body with movement-based programs and activities. This program has been known to help improve: concentration and focus, memory, academics, self-responsibility, organization and attitude.  Learn exercises that will be beneficial for the entire family!

Fun Friends
With FUN Friends, children ages 4-7 will gain the emotional and social intelligence necessary to excel during their school years. This program aims to help children to transition smoothly into school, improve their confidence and social skills, and give them the tools they need to be happy and resilient.
