Play Troop is the PMFRC’s daily play group. It enables parents, grandparents, caregivers and children (ages 0-6) to interact and share in the joys and challenges of raising children. Monday to Wednesday, the program is open to children ages 0 - 6. On Thursday and Friday, we welcome children ages 0 - 8. Wednesdays sessions are facilitated in French.

Our program focuses on the four foundations of learning from the Ministry of Education guideline “How Does Learning Happen” : belonging, well-being, engagement and expression.
The Play Troop program promotes:
September 4 - 7: Explore the trees with a snake craft, 'I Spy' and some leaf hunting
- literacy, social, and creative experience through play,
- gross- and fine- motor skill activities, indoor and outdoor play in a Natural play environment,
- crafts, and
- interactive circle time.
September 10 - 14: Join us to go bird watching -- create a feather picture and play a matching game
September 17 - 21: This week we will be painting apples and learning how they grow
September 24 - 28: Create a family tree, and make a portrait from loose parts
October 1 - 5: Explore textures by playing match-up games and taking turns using different objects such as feathers, cotton balls, and more
October 8 - 12: Learn about colours by exploring the rainbow and create a collage of paint
October 15 - 19: Learn about scents by exploring different spices and scent discovery tubes
October 22 - 26: Bake pumpkin cookies and play with pumpkin spice play dough
October 29 - November 2: Play with costumes and explore some unique hats and make your own mask
**October 15 - 30 : Join us to pick out a pumpkin so you can participate in our pumpkin decorating contest! We will have the tools on hand to start your masterpiece so you can surprise everyone with your creation at our annual Halloween Party on October 31! Contestants will be participating for the chance to win a prize (per age category) -- we can't wait to see what you come up with!
