Play Troop

Play Troop

Play Troop will be held at the South Side Community Centre on May 15 and May 22.

Play Troop Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Play Troop is the PMFRC’s daily play group.  It enables parents, grandparents, caregivers and children (ages 0-6) to interact and share in the joys and challenges of raising children. Monday to Wednesday, the program is open to children ages 0 - 6.  On Thursday and Friday, we welcome children ages 0 - 8. Wednesdays sessions are facilitated in French.

Our program focuses on the four foundations of learning from the Ministry of Education guideline “How Does Learning Happen” : belonging, well-being, engagement and expression.

The Play Troop program promotes:
  • literacy, social, and creative experience through play,
  • gross- and fine- motor skill activities,  indoor and outdoor play in a Natural play environment,
  • crafts, and
  • interactive circle time.

May 14 - 18: We will be continuing our gardening discussion and making a vegetable craft to take home.
May 21 - 25: Plant grass seed in your own cup and watch it grow over the next few weeks.
May 28 - June 1: This week we're getting dirty! It's time to go outside and plant our vegetables. We will be talking about how the soil looks and feels, and what we may find.

June 4 - 8: This week we will be getting ready for summer. We're painting rocks to look like lady bugs that we will use to decorate our outdoor garden.
June 11 - 15: Join us to make a special craft for Dad or the special men in our lives. We will also be keeping an eye on our gadens and talk about: what is happening; how to make sure our plants have enough water; and the importance of weeding
June 18 - 22: This week we will be talking about Canada and making Canada flags.
June 25 - 29: Continue to learn about Canada and make and decorate your own sugar cookies on June 29.
