Tell us more about your role at the PMFRC and the programs you are involved in.
My role at Employment Service allows me to assist clients in finding employment. I do that by teaching them about the labor market, helping them with resume and cover letter development as well as bringing to their attention any job postings that may be of interest to them. I facilitate workshops on LinkedIn and Creating Positive Digital Footprints. I also volunteer with the PMFRC for any functions or fundraisers that may be happening.

How long have you worked for the PMFRC?
I have been working here for the last two years.

Tell me about your background (experience, education, etc.).
When I was in Nova Scotia, I was an administrative assistant working for an organization that assisted clients with finding employment. I worked there for four years. When I moved to Petawawa I wanted to do something similar.  I love to help people.

What can people expect to see when they first meet you?
A smile and a helping hand with whatever they need.

What is your favorite part about working for the PMFRC?
The people -- not just the staff -- but everyone who comes through our doors.

What is your greatest accomplishment or proudest moment working for the PMFRC?
I have many of those! But my favorites times are when clients come back and let us know that they have found work. Sometimes, these clients have been looking for a job for over a year! It’s great to be able to motivate people when they are at their lowest and the see them when they shine.

Where are you from and what brought you to Petawawa? How long have you lived here?
I am from Nova Scotia, I grew up in Halifax. I have lived in Petawawa for almost three years.

What advice do you have for families transitioning to Petawawa?
If you don’t know anyone and you aren’t sure where to start, I encourage you to seek out the PMFRC. That’s what I did when I came here. There was always someone with a helping hand, who could give me the information on the ‘how to’ and the ‘where to’. They were a great resource in my first year.

What is your favorite thing about living in the area? What is your favorite thing to do in the winter? The summer?
My favorite thing about living in the area is how active the community is. There are bike clubs, running clubs, walking clubs and yoga clubs for all ages. In the winter I live at Dundonald Hall and partake in some of the programming offered by the PMFRC.

Leave us with a few words of wisdom – what is your favorite quote?
“Life is short, break the RULES, FORGIVE quickly, KISS slowly, LOVE truly, LAUGH uncontrollably and NEVER REGRET anything that made you SMILE.
