Tell us more about your role at the PMFRC and the programs you are involved in.
As Nursery School Supervisor I work with my team to create an environment and program that encourages children to investigate and learn. We help the children get ready for Kindergarten by teaching them positive social interactions and self-help skills.

How long have you worked for the PMFRC?
I have been working here since 2010.

Tell me about your background (experience, education, etc.)?
I received my Early Childhood Education diploma in Winnipeg in 1998.  Since then I have worked in day care centres and provided child care in my home. I have also worked as a Resource Teacher, Head Educator and Supervisor at Kiddie Kollege.

What can people expect to see when they first meet you?
If they see me during the program, they will probably see me singing, dancing and just having fun with the children.

What is your favorite part about working for the PMFRC?
I enjoy working with the friendly staff at the South Side Community Centre.  It’s always such a positive atmosphere.

What is your greatest accomplishment or proudest moment working for the PMFRC?
I think that I felt the proudest when all of our programs for September were full before summer holidays even began.

Where are you from and what brought you to Petawawa? How long have you lived here?
My husband was Military so we are from many places.  Before coming to Petawawa we lived in Borden, but we had been posted five times over six years so we have many homes.
We have been in Petawawa since 2010 and now that my husband has retired from the military, it looks like Petawawa is our forever home.

What advice do you have for families transitioning to Petawawa?
I highly recommend getting involved with the PMFRC, either by participating in their programs, volunteering or looking for employment.  It is a great place to meet people, get information, and an amazing place to work.

What is your favorite thing about living in the area? What is your favourite thing to do in the winter?  The summer?
I love that there is so much to do outdoors and much of it is free.  Our family enjoys geocaching, which we do mostly in the summer.  This area is great for geocaches.  In the winter I love building snow families and snow forts with my family.

Leave us with a few more words of wisdom – what is your favorite quote?
“Home is where the Military sends us”.

It is the quote from a wreath that a friend of mine made listing the names of every base we have lived on.  It doesn’t matter where you are posted, your family is what makes it home.
