Tell us more about your role at the PMFRC and the programs that you are involved in.
I was just recently hired as the Before and After School Supervisor at Valour K-12 School. The BAS Program provides before and after school care for Kindergarten and school-age children. There are two separate programs, one for each age group. The children participate in fun, hands-on and engaging activities that offer a seamless transition from their school day.

How long have you worked for the PMFRC?
I was hired in August.

I am still transitioning to Petawawa myself and I would have to say that by getting active, enjoying the outdoors, and getting involved in various community activities, I have been able to become more aware of my surroundings, and what is being offered to me and my family.

Tell me about your background (experience, education, etc.)
I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator -- I graduated from St. Lawrence College in Kingston. I also have an advanced diploma in Social Service Work from Loyalist College in Belleville.

I have been working in the early childhood field for approximately four years, and was the Lead Preschool Teacher and Lead Toddler Teacher at daycare centres in the Belleville/Kingston areas. Before I got my diploma, I worked as a swimming instructor and day camp counsellor for young children for a little over six years.

What can people expect to see when they first meet you?
I am a very outgoing, energetic individual and I love to laugh and smile. Families can expect to be met with a warm welcome when they first meet me.

What is your favorite part about working for the PMFRC?
As a new employee, I can attest to how wonderful this agency is for newcomers. I just recently moved to Petawawa, and everyone has been so welcoming and genuinely helpful.

So far, my favourite part about working for the PMFRC would be the staff, the wide variety of programs offered, and the children and families that I have had the pleasure to meet.

What is your greatest accomplishment or proudest moment working for the PMFRC?
My proudest moment working would have to be being hired as the BAS Supervisor at Valour.

Where are you from and what brought you to Petawawa? How long have you lived here?
I am originally from Belleville, but I moved to Kingston for school and absolutely fell in love with the city. I lived in Kingston until this summer when I moved to Petawawa to be closer to my military spouse.

What advice do you have for families transitioning to Petawawa?
Get active, and get involved!

I am still transitioning to Petawawa myself and I would have to say that by getting active, enjoying the outdoors, and getting involved in various community activities, I have been able to become more aware of my surroundings, and what is being offered to me and my family.

What is your favorite thing about living in the area? What is your favorite thing to do in the winter? The summer?
After moving to Petawawa, I was excited to have so much wildlife around me! I absolutely love being outdoors and enjoying the world around me. I love how close we are to provincial parks and plan to take full advantage! I love to spend time with family and friends, camping or cottaging in the summer, and enjoying winter activities such as tobogganing, skating and skiing in the winter.
