I am a motivator. For a client to be successful in their job search or career choice they must be motivated to succeed and confident in their skills and abilities.

Tell us more about your role at the PMFRC and the programs you are involved in.
I am an Employment Counsellor and Career Coach. My colleagues and I provide assistance, advice and information to job seekers to help with all aspects of their employment search and career planning. Day-to-day I help clients, hunt down new employment opportunities, provide feedback on resumes or cover letters, and strategize for successful job interviews.

I also hold workshops and keep in touch with with people in the community about possible job opportunities.

How long have you worked for the PMFRC?
I have worked for the PMFRC for the past ten years. I began working at the Parent Child Drop-In then moved to the Prevention and Support team.

From there I moved to the Employment Service team. I started out as a programmer, and I am now an Employment Counsellor.

What can people expect to see when they first meet you?
I am a mentor. I won’t tell you what to do, but I will work with you to decide on an action plan.

I am a motivator. For a client to be successful in their job search or career choice they must be motivated to succeed and confident in their skills and abilities.

A good career coach helps you to realize what you are doing well and assist you in capitalizing on those strengths. They also point out areas for improvement and help you to develop an approach to improve in key areas.

I encourage my clients to become goal setters, and identify long-term career aspirations. From there we figure out the steps for getting to where you want to be, and I am there to help you stay focused and on track.

What is your favorite part about working for the PMFRC?
I love meeting new people and helping them to find a career path.
