VIRTUAL HOME ALONE WORKSHOP

This Virtual Home Alone course is a unique interactive workshop designed for youth as we focus on building independence, confidence and awareness in keeping youth safe while home alone.  It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations and keep them safe and constructively occupied. Using the Google Meets platform, we focus on small group discussions, problem solving, role-playing and instructor-led demonstrations.

Course Content
  • Home, fire and kitchen safety
  • People safety
  • Online safety
  • Sibling Rivalry
  • How to recognize an emergency and how to call for help
  • Basic first aid skills

Course Location
At home

** Note: A Gmail account is required in order to be able to use Google Meets.**

Timing
This 4 hour course is comprised of 3 hours of virtual learning and 1 hour of activities/assignments at home.

Participants MUST attend both sessions to be certified, otherwise it will be marked as incomplete.

VIRTUAL RED CROSS BABYSITTER COURSE

This virtual course designed by the Canadian Red Cross prepares youth for their roles and responsibilities as Babysitters. Using the Google Meets platform, the learning objectives of this course are how to keep others safe while in your care and control with an emphasis on First Aid skills. The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. The curriculum provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency.

Course Content
  • How to be responsible and demonstrate leadership
  • How to make good decisions and manage difficult behaviours
  • Information on children’s developmental stages and specific strategies for each stage
  • How to feed, diaper, dress, and play with children and babies 
  • How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations, make safe choices and promote safe behaviours
  • First aid skills
  • The business of babysitting

This 7 hour & 5 minute course is broken down into 3 sessions of 2 hour learning plus 1 hour of activities/assignments at home.

Virtual Dove Self Esteem Project

During this six-week virtual program, we will do a variety of activities such as dancing, mindfulness exercises and power-packed workouts that will each focus on making teens feel great about themselves both inside and outside. Let us come together and help young adolescents in our community grow up feeling like they can do anything and be anything!
