Unit PT Thinkstock Share: Unit PT Unit PT Classes Our department offers a wide variety of Unit PT classes that will motivate and challenge all levels of fitness. Let our staff plan, prepare and execute a well rounded workout that will offer the structure and knowledge to safely and effectively train your soldiers to be fit to fight. CARDIO GEARS This indoor cycling class will challenge even the strongest cyclists! Using specialized stationary bicycles, we will simulate off-road cycling, road racing, hill climbing and just about any other terrain the instructor can imagine. We have over 20 indoor bikes to accommodate your group. BOSU BOSU (Both Sides Utilized) This challenging fitness tool will give your legs a serious workout. Improve balance and coordination while engaging your core. Used in combination with resistance equipment or body-weight exercises, the BOSU will give you intense cardiovascular and strength training like no other! PLYOMETRICS An explosive style of training that uses maximum speed and power to improve reactive muscular force. Our staff will provide a safe and structured environment to ensure all participants will benefit from this high intensity training. Improve speed and explosive muscular power while increasing coordination, flexibility and balance. INDOOR RUNNING One of the best forms of cardiovascular training! If you are in need of some structure and variety in your running program let our staff change things up for you. Interval, tempo, fartleck, tabata and resistance running are just some of the training methods that we will make you all too familiar with. CARDIO CIRCUIT Provides a variety of interval exercises and various equipment to challenge the cardiovascular (heart) and respiratory (lungs) systems. SAQ This class is formulated by the Fitness Staff to achieve maximum benefits from a multitude of variables. Don’t be fooled by the name, this class is seriously demanding! FUNCTIONAL BATTLE FIELD FITNESS This class will consist of technical boxing techniques as well as various cardiovascular and strength training components. You don't have to be a competitive boxer to utilize the benefits of a basic boxing workout. The training and exercises required for boxing provides a total body workout that will improve coordination, agility, balance, and explosive power. RELAY A diverse class that provides a fun and interactive way to motivate participants. Various exercise combinations performed in a circuit style relay will train anaerobic and aerobic energy systems while improving speed, agility and coordination. SPORTS CONDITIONING Designed using various sports drills; this energetic class provides participants the opportunity to practice their sports skills. Request a specific sport or leave it up to us, either way we’ll give you an entertaining experience. STRENGTH COMBAT FITNESS Adapted from the popular exercise form called “Cross Fit” this training session will utilize functional movement patterns with a combination of cardiovascular training, weightlifting and body weight exercises. Staff will run you though this high intensity workout using their choice of delivery, from front led to circuit style there will be no lack of variety. Concentration on technique and form will allow everyone to safely participate in this effective style of training. BODY BARS A challenging full body workout using body bars for resistance, balance and flexibility. We will combine cardio training and other fitness tools to provide an efficient way to achieve overall fitness. KETTLEBELLS Training with these cast iron weights allow you to condition multiple systems, performing explosive movements using a full range of motion. Effectively strengthen stabilizing muscles in the upper body, lower body and core simultaneously. Using functional movements this intense class will also improve cardiovascular endurance, coordination, and flexibility. RESISTANCE BANDS The constant tension produced by these light weight bands offers a variety of effective strength training options that engage many stabilizing muscles. Great for all fitness levels. TOTAL BODY CIRCUIT A high energy full body work out that will incorporate various equipment and progressions to ensure soldiers of all fitness levels are able to participate. STRENGTH CIRCUIT This circuit will focus predominantly on muscular power and endurance. We will use a combination of strength training equipment and body weight exercises. SPECIALIST OBSTACLES For an extra hard workout book one of our specialist themed obstacle courses. Participants will test their physical limits in a series of strenuous activities, simulating the daunting fitness requirements of our countries elite trades. This class is very demanding, so please ensure that participants have a strong base fitness level. Choose from the following options: JTF2, CSOR, SAR-TECH, PRE-PARA. OTHER CORE TRAINING The muscles of the lower torso are essential for maintaining the body’s equilibrium when performing most physical tasks. Utilizing various equipment or body weight, instructors will develop a program to strengthen and improve stability in abdominals, obliques and lower back. BALANCE & STABILITY Improve joint stability, posture and muscle awareness in this low impact class. We will engage stabilizing muscles while challenging your brain and body to work in unison. STRETCHING & RELAXATION This class consists of various stretches with an emphasis on technique. Improve flexibility and strengthen muscles with moves inspired by Yoga and Pilates. We can also provide muscle and mind relaxation techniques for stress relief. Great for pre or post BFT! POOL AQUACIRCUIT A challenging circuit style workout in the pool using a variety of swim strokes, movements and equipment. This class involves work in both the shallow and deep end and sometimes the pool deck. AQUAFIT A full body workout using various land based aerobic moves in the water. Range of motion, coordination and core stability will be emphasized. Moves and sequences will be performed in deep or shallow water. SEASONAL (SUMMER ONLY) HILL TRAINING A mixture of high intensity cardio training and various body weight exercises are performed up, over and around Bunker Hill. This improves explosive muscular power and cardiovascular endurance. To progress intensity, this class can move to the sand hill (behind confidence course). OUTDOOR CYCLING Enjoy the speed and freedom of two wheels as you tour the base. Improve balance, coordination and leg endurance. Our department has 30 mountain bikes and helmets at our disposal to accommodate larger groups. FITNESS TRAIL This 1.2 km groomed trail offers an assortment of challenges along the way. From pull up bars to log lifting you can choose to work more than just your legs on this outdoor track. SPRUCEWOODS TRAILS Sprucewoods Forrest offers a multitude of "off the beaten path" trails. Our staff can take your group jogging or biking through the challenging uneven terrain. CONFIDENCE COURSE Run through the complex obstacles on Shilo's Confidence Course.
