Born in Toronto Ontario Jack Hadley joined The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada when he was 17 years of age. He trained and deployed from Gander Newfoundland and stormed the beaches of Normandy on Juno Beach. Jack lost his brother George Albert Hadley shortly after from friendly fire. He was wounded from shrapnel from a bomb exploding injuring him through and through his left shoulder and was sent to England where he recovered. Jack was sent home back to Toronto where he met his bride Dorothy Gertrude Wright. They had six children, all raised in East York. He lived on his own in the same house after his wife passed until he became ill and moved into Sunnybrook Hospital for a short time until he passed in March 2018
