In February 2015, Armed Forces Council directed the Directorate of Fitness (DFit) to develop a new fitness strategy for CAF personnel. The aims of the revised Physical Fitness Strategy are to: a) contribute to operational readiness; b) strengthen the CAF culture of physical fitness; c) attenuate demands on health services; d) promote individual physical wellness and e) support social wellness.

2.0 Study Overview
For participants, it will consist of filling out a general questionnaire on your health and then the research team will measure participant’s height, weight, waist circumference and blood pressure. The first meeting should take approximately 2 hours of your time.  Participants will wear a heart rate monitor attached to your skin with 2 electrodes for 24 hours per day, 6 days in a row and you will take notes of your daily activities and sleep in a diary. Participation is estimated to take 5 hours over the 6-day duration of the project. All participants will receive baseline information on your body composition.  In addition, if you choose to provide us an e-mail address, the research team will send you a detailed report on your daily levels of activity and energy expenditure, your training effect, your sleep quantity and quality, and your levels of stress and recovery. The main risk to participating in this project would be skin irritation from wearing the heart rate monitor.  In that situation, participants will be free to withdraw as soon as the reaction appears, without prejudice.  This research has been approved by the DRDC HREC, protocol number 2016-005, and all participants will sign an informed consent form.
