Health Promotion

Welcome to Health Promotion in Wainwright

Strengthening the Forces (StF) is a Health Promotion program designed to assist Canadian Armed Forces members, Regular and Primary Reserve, DND and NPF employees and their families to take control of their health and well-being. Maintaining a high level of health improves one's ability to perform effectively and safely on CAF operations, and to enjoy a high quality of life.

Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health. To reach a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, an individual or group must be able to identify and realize aspirations, to satisfy needs, and to change or cope with the environment. Health is seen as a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living.
Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities. Health promotion is not just the responsibility of the health sector, but goes beyond healthy lifestyles to an individual’s well-being.
Health Promotion in Wainwright is a division of Personnel Support Programs (PSP), located in the Garrison Fitness Centre, Building #210.
