Re-Opening of Air Force Way Gate – 11 May

A message from the 17 Wing Commander, Colonel J.P.E. Charron

17 Wing has been informed that 1 CAD will be ramping up their personnel presence on the base next week.  Therefore, effective 11 May, the Air Force Way Gate will be re-opened to avoid long line-ups of traffic at the main gate.  Both gates will return to conducting random ID checks as usual. In an effort to protect returning personnel and our contracted Commissionaires, for those without a base decal on their vehicle or arriving by bike or by foot, please have your DND ID ready to present to be verified at the Gate to avoid prolonged exposure/physical contact.

There is no change to the direction prohibiting visitors to defence establishments. If there is a critical requirement for non-DND/non-CAF personnel to visit the base, the sponsoring member is to submit a Visitor Request Application (WSO 05-001 Annex A /Annex B). Family members conducting drop-offs or pick-ups of 17 Wing personnel will also be allowed access, units are to continue to provide names of family members doing so to the Wing FPO.

Thank you for your contribution in keeping the whole Defence Team safe!  Be well, stay well.
