Summer is (almost) here!
If it’s not hot already, we can remember what the heat feels like. Peeling off layers of clothes, putting the boots in the closet, and getting ready to have fun in the sun. Sometimes summer isn’t as much fun as we would like it to be. Maybe you are having to juggle the pleasures of the warm weather with the stresses of military family life. There may be particular stresses: moves, summer vacation to plan, etc. The MFRC has many resources that you could use. Perhaps it would help to talk confidentially to someone neutral who knows the military life, and who can help you find solutions. It can be a relief just to be heard. You can call the MFRC and ask for the coordinator, Prevention, Support and Intervention.

Lending library
In the past few months, we have been working on building a library of specialized materials. It will allow families to have access to various resources such as:

  • Books: The library has more than 100 books on various topics. The themes include anxiety, discipline, managing emotions, technology and information on different problems. They are adapted both to parents and to children.
  • Materials: We have close to 100 articles that can be borrowed by families. Fidgets have been all the rage in recent years. It is now possible to try them for a few weeks to see if you like them. We also have adapted materials for young people with special needs.
  • Games: what better way to learn than by having fun! We have a selection of games that work on different skills, including motor skills, social skills, emotional management, language, and family spirit.

Please be aware that it is not necessary to have a follow-up or diagnosis to access our lending library. You can contact our special care counsellor to get advice and guidance on your borrowing choices.

For further information: Camille Provencher, Special Care Counsellor - Youth sector, at 450 462-8777 ext. 6852 (Saint-Hubert) or 450 358-7099 ext. 2909 (Saint-Jean) or at
