SPECIAL CARE COUNSELLING

Back to school
Although many people are still on vacation, back-to-school time is fast approaching! Within a few weeks, it will already be time to start following the school routine and preparing school bags.

There are many tips about how to have a successful back to school, and the first one is to plan. If you have your list of school supplies, why not start making your purchases now to avoid crowded stores and a more limited selection of articles.

A few days before and after going back to school, it is important to set aside some time in your schedule to spend with your kids. Back to school may have different impacts: some children are excited, while others are more anxious. It is from this point of view that setting aside time will allow you to guide and support them. By planning, there will be a minimum impact on your family schedule.

It is preferable to start adjusting to the routine a few days in advance so that kids can get used to the pace (e.g.: go to bed and wake up earlier), and the transition will not be too difficult.

For more information, feel free to contact our Special Care Services.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation and happy back-to-school time!

For further information: Camille Provencher, Special Care Counsellor - Youth sector, at 450 462-8777 ext. 6852 (Saint-Hubert) or 450 358-7099 ext. 2909 (Saint-Jean) or at camille.provencher@forces.gc.ca

COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

A new head of Volunteer Services
The MFRC’s Community Services have been divided into two sectors: Volunteer Services and the Community Integration Services.

Marie-Belle Meunier, who joined us a few weeks ago, is the new head of MFRC Volunteer Services. Already employed by our organization for several years as a Reception and Information Clerk, she is the right person for this position. Working together with the current Community Integration Officer, she knows how to guide and support volunteers in all of our new projects and tasks. She will now be in charge of our Volunteer mornings at both the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu MFRC and the Saint-Hubert MFRC.

Do you like art, knitting, watercolour painting or even embroidery?
This fall, something new is coming to Community and Social Services. The Saint-Hubert volunteers will relaunch its knitting and art evenings. Our Creative Tuesdays will be back at the Saint-Hubert MFRC from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., twice a month. The first Creative Tuesday will be held on September 3 on the second floor of the Saint-Hubert MFRC.

Bring your current projects or simply all your tools to start new ones. No need to register for this activity as it is open to all! For any questions, do not hesitate to contact Marie-Belle Meunier, Volunteer Services Officer, by email <I>Marie-Belle.Meunier @forces.gc.ca<I>.

For further information: Maude Laflamme, Community Integration Officer, at 450 462-8777 ext. 6835 (Saint-Hubert), or 450 358-7099 ext. 5059 (Saint-Jean), or at maude.laflamme@forces.gc.ca.
